Sunsetting Partners for Impact

Thank you to everyone who has contributed, shared insights and learnings, and provided feedback. This platform will close in June 2024, but we hope the best practices and lessons we shared were helpful.

Partners for Impact (PFI) was founded in July 2020 as a service. So many partnerships around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were mushrooming, yet also f(l)ailing. Why not set up a platform to share best practices?

Partnering for more impact (and staying efficient and sane in the process) should not be a trade secret. Partnering well is often based on common sense (e.g., on building and maintaining trust, agreeing on common goals, and ensuring partnering is not a zero-sum game). Many partnership tools to overcome challenges are available in the public domain (e.g., stakeholder maps, checklists, research on partnerships). Most persistent challenges are evident and need more will than skill to fix (e.g. lack of diversity, or terminating a partnership).

Setting up a platform, while consulting full-time and managing a full-blown pandemic was challenging. Yet - as anyone who has set up their own initiative from scratch will know - it was also immensely rewarding. Some of the best experts in this space agreed to share their insights and lessons, and several organizations and researchers reached out to share reports and best practices. Based on the number of subscribers and visitors to the site, there appears to be a (continuing) demand for these lessons and best practices.

As we walk the talk on one of the lessons we have shared (know when it’s time to sunset), this website (and PFI) will close in June 2024. Thank you to everyone who has contributed, shared insights and learnings, and provided feedback. Please feel free to copy and use any lessons before the site goes offline.
